Everisto Mapedza is a Senior Social and Institutional Scientist and IWMI’s and focal point for the Dryland Systems Program. He received his BSc and MSc at the University of Zimbabwe before taking a Ph.D. at Edinburgh University, UK.

Dr Everisto Mapedza has worked for the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) since 2006. He started off in the Pretoria office and spent over 2 years in the East Africa office in Addis Ababa, before moving back to the Pretoria office. His main interest is engaging in applied social science research which leads to impact and how water and land resources can be used to alleviate the poor rural communities’ poverty in a gendered manner. Most of his field research has been largely in sub-Saharan Africa.
