Dr. Edward Carey is a Regional Sweetpotato Breeder at the International Potato Center (CIP). He holds an MS.c. in Horticulture, University of Illinois, Urbana and a Ph.D. in Horticulture from the University of Illinois, Urbana, USA.

Before joining CIP, Dr. Carey was a Professor at Kansas State University, Department of Horticulture, Forestry and Recreational Resources. He also worked at Kansas State Extension Horticultural Food Crops Specialist and a sweet potato breeder for CIP in Peru, Columbia, and Kenya.

Dr. Carey has published his work at international journals such as Variation in nitrogen rate and local availability alter root architecture attributes at the onset of storage root initiation in ŒBeauregard sweetpotato, Soil quality after eight years under high tunnels,Trends in Soil Quality Under High Tunnels, Management practices of growers using high tunnels in the central Great Plains of the United States and many more.
