Dr. Ram C. Sharma is a Senior Scientist (Breeder) at ICARDA’s Central Asia and the Caucasus Regional Program. He holds a Ph.D. in Crop Science from Oklahoman State University in USA and in Agronomy from Ohio State University, Columbus, USA.

Dr. Sharma has worked for 25 years researching applied crop breeding and related areas in agronomy, crop physiology, biometrics and marker assisted selection. He taught graduate and undergraduate students at the Tribhuvan University supervising the work of more than 25 students. He was also a member in multidisciplinary farming systems research team in Nepal for five years.

He has published more than 100 scientific papers in refereed journals. Examples are Winter wheat East European Regional Yield Trial: Identification of superior genotypes and characterization of environments, Genetic gains for grain yield in CIMMYT spring bread wheat across international environments, Yield stability analysis of winter wheat genotypes targeted to semi-arid environments in the International Winter Wheat Improvement Program and many more.
