Role in Dryland Systems:
Dr. Javed Rizvi is a Plant Physiologist with more than 25 years of experience in crop-livestock-tree integrated systems. He holds a Ph.D. in Plant Physiology with a very broad research experience in dryland agriculture in South and West Asia. Agroforestry, food and nutritional security, and ecosystem services are some of his current interests.
He serves as the Regional Director of ICRAF’s South Asia Regional Program. Before joining ICRAF, he has worked with ICARDA for about 14 years, and before that he worked with Universities in India and abroad for about 17 years.
He has authored and co-authored more than 57 peer-reviewed publications, including book chapters, conference papers, and reviews etc. He has also published a book on Allelopathy with Chapman and Hall, London. He is an active member of several scientific and professional associations, such as Indian Agroforestry Society, Indian Plant Physiology Society etc. He is a recipient of several awards and honors, such as Grodzinsky International Award, USA.
His current research interests focus on aagroforestry, ecosystem services, food and nutritional security through integrated crop-livestock-tree systems.
