Dr. Ch Srinivasa Rao serves as Director of Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad. Specialization is dryland agriculture strategic research and technology development, District agriculture Contingency plans, Climate change, Soil carbon sequestration. He is also heading a mega project "National Initiative for Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) at CRIDA.

Prior to this, Dr. Ch Srinivasa Rao, was Project Coordinator (All India Coordinated Research Project for Dryland Agriculture), CRIDA covering 25 centers representing arid, semi-arid, and sub-humid regions covering diverse rainfed agro ecosystems of India (2013-14).

He has Published 165 peer reviewed research papers (in Advances in Agronomy, Soil Sci Soc of America Journal, Australian J Soil Res, J Plant Nutrition and Soil Science, European J Agronomy, Canadian J Soil Science, Geoderma, Ecological Indicators, Applied Soil Ecology etc). Recipient of 18 awards including fellow of National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS). Member of 8 professional societies including Soil Sci Soc of America.

His current research interests focus on development of location specific rainfed technologies, implementation climate resilient technologies in 150 villages, soil carbon sequestration, Climate change and implementation of real time agriculture contingency plans.
